sorry if that is a bit off topic, but, it seemed to be the board catagory closest to what I needed to post this.

How much are you charging for these lessons/

Post 10 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 0:09:23

Hi. Thanks for the inquiry. Twenty dollars a half hour and thirty an hour. )Which is cheaper than the going rate at most music schools etc.) And, that includes practice materials and exercises in text format as well as mp3. I can send my resume if requested. I have a BA degree in music and have been teaching private lessons for ten years. I also did some part time teaching at 2 different schools. My one requirement is that the student will want to work on theory as well as playing technique. that is very important. I can work with them figuring out songs etc, but, I also concentrate on scales, warm up exercises, key transitions, improv, etc. I teach four string and five string bass, but not upright bass at this point. as far as guitar, six or seven string is fine. For in person lessons, cash or paypal, and for skype or mp3 based lessons, paypal only. Reading music or tab is not required. Thanks.

ah hear that? he's doing private lessons. I somehow think his definition of private lessons have nothing to do with teaching guitar. more like, you show him your privates and he'll show you his. ladies, be very very very very careful!

Post 12 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 12:19:36

Shush Cam! What if he's serious, and I mean serious about teaching music?

Post 13 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 12:33:53

Well, at least he's got some talents. Shark only begs for the panties and then calls the girls sluts on the Zone afterwards for weeks or months, and of course he also whines and cries that he doesn't have a girl friend and nobody likes him.
I think the lessons are quite a cool idea, though I don't need them at this point.
And, seriously, shark warning the ladies of an internet perv? seriously? Is that meant to be a joke, of course he probably also provides his phone number for phone sex, I mean consulting.

umm, i'm not so sure if you know where you are when you post
"this is off topic"
its the zone.
things never stay "on topic"
people always comment, and shit just starts from there.
i know this is off topic, but i'm jsut saying

I forgot to mention in my previous posts... If you'd like a taste of my teaching style for acoustic guitar, there is a mp3 of a guitar clinic I put on recently on the home page of my web site. the URL is in my profile.

Post 20 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Thursday, 27-Aug-2009 20:34:08

guitar god cool about the lessons just had to poll your string before because you know it's just me.

Shark it's not you today, but are you saying wb is wrong? because um I know all to well the truth behind it unless you have selective memory like most guys have selective hearing.
I have to get in to playing guitar again. It sounded better than my singing. haha

Post 21 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 30-Aug-2009 11:56:28

I love doing it, even though I can only play a few things. I never stay in standard though, always drop D or Drop C. I know how to play power chords, just never do it. For actual chords, I use accessible chordbook to get my fingers placed right. I should really some of those other chords on that site, not just power.

Post 22 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 30-Aug-2009 12:23:41

yeah, power chords are good for metal and punk etc, but, you really should at least learn your basic chords and bar chords as well as basic 1 and 2 octave scales, pentatonics, relative minor to major, etc..

Post 23 by Classicrock (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2009 14:56:57

I know this is old but I haven't logged in for a while so didn't notice it. Do you still offer guitar/bass lessons? I've been playing acoustic on and off but haven't touched it in a while. I'd like to pick up the guitar again and start playing more regularly. I've tried the Donald Hoffer method (which worked for me) and Bill Brown's form of instruction (but that never worked too well for me.) I'm interested in learning blues, flamenco, and classic rock. I don't mind learning theory and think some ear training would be good for me. I don't live in Texas so it would have to be via Skype. Let me know if you think you would be able to work with me. Thanks.

Hey guys seriously Cam's really not all that bad of a person. I do think he's got some interesting things he's into, but I also think sometimes people blow things way out of proportion on here, but hey it's the zone what do you expect?
Anyway, onto the actual inquiry of this topic, I'm having to save up money for a number of things but hopefully I'll get my hands on an acoustic guitar as I'd love to start learning it and I've always found fascination with the instrument, perhaps you'll hopefully be teaching once I get my stuff together, Cam.

Yes, I am still teaching. as for blues and classic rock, yeah, that's really my bag along with metal and pop. I'm not a proper flamenco player though, that is a whole other world in regards to playing technique, scales, chords, termanology, etc. yes, skype is fine if you can pay me via paypal. drop me a pm or e mail when you want to start.
